Charles Stegemoeller

Director, NASA Business Development and Capture Management, Leidos

Charlie Stegemoeller joined Leidos in 2023 and is the Leidos Director for our Space Exploration and Mission Operations Strategic Solutions. He is responsible for developing business practices and applications for implementation of contracts in support of NASA’s missions. He provides senior oversight of delivery of services across NASA including emerging crewed and uncrewed mission platforms for government and commercial endeavors.
Charlie began his career as a NASA civil servant at the NASA Johnson Space Center in 1985. His career includes early Space Station design and development as the Resource Node Element Manager and as lead for U.S. science payloads integration on the Russian Mir Orbital Space Station. In 1997, he served as the initial manager for Human Space Life Sciences Projects office and the Bioastronautics initiative precursors to the current NASA Human Research Program.
In 2005, he joined NASA’s standup of the Constellation Program to develop the systems for returning to the moon and preparations for human space flight
to Mars.
In 2012, Charlie joined SAIC (the legacy corporation for Leidos) and has been active across the spectrum of national space efforts across NASA and the ramp
up of commercial space flight.
Charlie serves as: the CoChair of the JSC Joint Leadership team; member of the Executive Committee for the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership Board of Directors; Executive Vice President of the American Astronautical Society; a member of the Board of Trustees for the HCA Clear Regional Hospital; and as a member of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department Advisory Council in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M
University.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985. During his NASA career, he received the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal (2011), the NASA Exceptional Service Medal (1996), and the Astronaut Spaceflight Awareness Silver Snoopy Award (1996).
