The Honorable Brian Babin, D.D.S. has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’ 36th Congressional Districtsince 2015, representing a broad region of southeastern Texas that includes the Johnson Space Center and key energy, infrastructure, and maritime hubs.

Born in Port Arthur and raised in Beaumont, Texas, Dr. Babin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lamar University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He served as an airborne artilleryman in the Texas Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve, and later as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany.

Upon returning to East Texas in 1979, Dr. Babin practiced dentistry for over three decades in Woodville, where he also served as mayor, city councilman, and school board member, and took on leadership roles in community and business organizations. He has held numerous civic and state appointments, including on the Lower Neches Valley Authority, the Texas State Historical Commission, and the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

In Congress, he has been appointed to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, where he plays a prominent role in shaping U.S. science and space policy, including advocacy for the Johnson Space Center and American leadership in space exploration.

Dr. Babin and his wife, Roxanne, reside in Woodville and are active members of the First Baptist Church, where he has served as a deacon, teacher, and choir member. The Babins have five children and 17 grandchildren.
