Janna Lewis joined Astroscale U.S. in May 2024 as Senior Vice President of Policy and General Counsel, where she provides strategic policy and legal leadership to support the company’s growth and compliance with evolving regulations related to commercial and national security space initiatives. She also serves as Secretary of the Astroscale U.S. Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Astroscale, Lewis was a senior attorney and technology strategist at BAE Systems Inc., advising on legal and policy matters involving defense, intelligence, and commercial space programs. She brings cross-sector expertise supporting U.S. government and commercial initiatives, including satellite integration and launch, on-orbit communications and sensing, space and missile defense, microelectronics, and cybersecurity technologies.

Lewis began her career in private legal practice, representing U.S. and international clients across the aerospace and defense, commercial space, and telecommunications industries. She later worked at Meta (formerly Facebook), where she helped develop industry partnerships focused on advancing space-based and high-altitude global connectivity solutions. She subsequently supported innovation initiatives under U.S. government contracts within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector before joining BAE Systems.

Lewis is a registered patent attorney, a member of the International Institute of Space Law, and serves on the AIA Space Council. She frequently speaks on the evolving legal and policy landscape affecting defense and commercial space activities and is an advocate for workforce development and emerging professionals in the space industry.
