Mike Lammers
Deputy Chief of the Flight Director Office, Johnson Space Center, NASA
Mike Lammers is currently the Deputy Chief of the Flight Director Office at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. The Flight Director Office provides Mission Control leadership for NASA’s International Space Station and Artemis human spaceflight programs. Flight Directors lead teams of flight controllers and astronauts who support program planning and operations integration, develop flight rules, procedures, and flight plans for human spaceflight missions, and oversee the training and flight execution of those missions from Mission Control in Houston.
Mr. Lammers has 30 years of experience in human spaceflight, including 18 years as a Flight Director. He has led teams in Mission Control that directly control the International Space Station and crewed Orion and Starliner vehicles, as well as executing numerous special projects within those programs. He has also managed the planning and execution of many joint operations with NASA’s international and contractor partners, including proximity operations of Russian Soyuz and Progress vehicles, SpaceX Dragon, Northrop Grumman Cygnus, the Japanese HTV, and the European ATV cargo vehicles. Mr. Lammers has additionally managed the planning and execution of several spacewalks.
Mr. Lammers is one of three Ascent/Entry Flight Directors at NASA, who hold execution authority during the powered ascent and entry phases of crewed spacecraft missions.
He is the recipient of the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, Outstanding Leadership Medal, Exceptional Service Medal, and the Silver Snoopy.
