Ernest Sanchez’s career in human space flight spans over 33 years, with expertise in engineering, systems engineering, program management, project management, operations, risk management, subcontract management, logistics, and property management.   

Ernest Sanchez is currently the Program Manager over the International Space Station (ISS) Cargo Mission Contract (CMC), the prime cargo logistics contract for the ISS and Artemis programs which include Orion, Human Landing System (HLS), Gateway, and the Extravehicular Activity & Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP). As the Program Manager of CMC, he is responsible for cargo integration with delivery to and from the ISS, consisting of pressurized and unpressurized science and logistics carriers, assembly hardware, and crew support supplies. In addition to cargo integration oversight, Ernest manages an engineering team that sustains, designs, certifies, and develops complex ISS support equipment.   

Prior to assuming his current position as Program Manager, Ernest served as the Deputy Program Manager over CMC, where he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the contract while also performing in a dual role as the Department Manager over the ISS Cargo Processing and Logistics Teams. Additional experience includes his role as the Flight Crew Equipment (FCE) Close-Out Manager where he was responsible for transitioning and dispositioning of Space Shuttle and Space Station heritage hardware and engineering products to various organizations in support of the Space Shuttle Program retirement. Ernest was also the FCE Chief Engineer and Department Manager, responsible for a team that processed and maintained Space Flight hardware and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) while serving as a member of the United Space Alliance Chief Engineering Council.    

Ernest received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Throughout his career he has received the NASA Space Flight Awareness award, Silver Snoopy award, and numerous other NASA group achievement awards.
