Vice President, Chief Engineer, Lockheed Martin Space
Michael Drews is the Chief Engineer Vice President for LM Space, where he leads the technical excellence and innovation strategies for 12,000 engineers across five Spacecraft and Missile mission areas. He’s an executive leader with 30 years of system development experience on Classified, DoD and NASA programs. He’s helped engineer multiple next generation systems that pushed boundaries in spacecraft autonomy.
Before joining LM, he began his career at NASA Ames Research Center, and worked in two other companies in Silicon Valley in the 1990s, one of which he co-founded. He’s the passionate innovator of a multi-generational STEM event called STEMScape, and has been an active contributor and chapter officer for AAS and IEEE. He was awarded 2018 AIAA Rocky Mountain Chapter Engineer of the Year. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado.
